Designed by Proctor and Matthews Architects, the plans for Phase 1a of the Mountfield Park project, which will comprise 140 new homes, joined eighty shortlisted schemes from around the UK, before reaching the final list of winners.

Launched in 1948, the Housing Design Awards promote innovation and quality in housing design, and aim to raise awareness of home design which serves the needs of residents, in order that good solutions can be replicated. The judging panel, which includes industry experts and government officials, consider that all the winning entries are worthy of a national platform.

The Housing Design Awards are the only national recognition scheme promoted by all five major professional institutions – the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Town Planning Institute, the Landscape Institute and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.

Simon Wright, CEO of Corinthian Land, said: “We are thrilled that Mountfield Park has won this prestigious award. The Housing Design Awards is an independent scheme that celebrates exceptional housing design, and we are delighted that the judges selected our scheme for Mountfield Park. Our brief to our architects was, literally, to design an award-winning scheme that would be worthy of the historic city of Canterbury, and they have done just that.

"The quality of design of the first phase is a clear indication of the Company's long term commitment to deliver a project which embodies the highest standards of placemaking."
